Danish heavy metal band Volbeat announce additional U.S. 2011 tour dates

The Danish heavy metal quartet Volbeat announced additional dates to their 2011 United States spring tour. Volbeat's North American tour begins on March 23, 2011, at Irving Plaza in New York City, and comes through Chicago's House of Blues on March 27th.

The quartet has steadily risen to become one of the major attractions in the European scene, and the band’s legend continues grow here in the U.S. Volbeat’s last visit to North America was a runaway success, with a majority of the headline appearances selling out.

The original 7 cities for the 2011 tour doubled into 14, and now ends April 13th in Dallas, Texas. Other cities added onto Volbeat's North American tour are, San Diego, West Hollywood, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Englewood, and Toronto, ONT.

Volbeat's previous concert in Chicago was a headline show on Aug 19, 2010 at the Bottom Lounge. Their 2011 concert in Chicago will be at the House of Blues, which is a 600 person jump in venue capacity size.

Other North America shows included arena tours with Metallica and Lamb of God on a tour that stretched from October through December in 2009.

The 2011 North America headlining tour will be in support of Volbeat's 2010 major label (Universal Republic) debut album Beyond Hell/Above Heaven. Overseas, the album debuted at number one on the sales charts in Denmark, Finland and Sweden, and Top 10 in a half dozen additional countries.

In regards to the new album, singer Michael Poulsen shared, “It is different but still holds true to the Volbeat style. We have fast, slow and mid-tempo songs. We still blend different styles of punk, rock’n’roll, rockabilly, metal, heavy metal, thrash metal, and country.”
