Danish Volbeat gave London a lesson

VOLBEAT, HMV Forum, London

(BT) Is anyone still in any doubt about why Volbeat has become the biggest rock name internationally, Denmark has ever born? Well, so would those have been present when Michael Poulsen, James Kjølholm, Jon Larsen and Thomas Bredahl Saturday night gave London a lesson in rock'n'roll that about 2000, who was present, probably still running around in town and roars with the 'Radio Girl', 'Guitar Gangsters ...' and all the others.

After only one U.S. tour in spring, a long festival season this summer and another U.S. tour this fall, is Volbeat become an even more formidable live entity.

The four - especially frontman Michael Poulsen - is rarely less than charitable enthusiastic and from the moment they are in London began with a lightning-triumvirate 'The Human Instrument', 'Guitar Gangsters And Cadillac Blood' and 'Heaven Nor Hell "was the Clearly, this would be one of the greats Volbeat experiences.

Manufacturers of antidepressants may eventually be thoroughly tired of Volbeat, for there is little doubt that their sales plummet when Volbeat comes to town.

It signals the confidence of Muhammad Ali class to open the concerts with three of the absolute 'show stoppers' in the catalog, but the confidence has Volbeat with good reason, and it rubs in the degree of both the audience and the show.

Although I have heard them countless times by now, have Volbeat probably rarely played better versions of 'Sad Man's Tongue', 'Still Counting' and an absolutely terrific 'Mary Ann's Place' - every drum beat and every guitar attack was stinging precisely, Michael Poulsen delivered one of his better vocal performances, and it all took place with a surplus, a commitment to the party and - most importantly - a smile that was quite captivating.

Audience receipted with waves of enthusiasm roar - not least to Volbeat witty vignettes from their own numbers, where they played fragments of Motörhead, Slayer, Mercyful Fate and the Queen numbers.

And the enthusiasm is fully deserved. Except for one other band - and the band is AC / DC - I can not think of others in the hard end of the rock, which peddle celebration and great times that Volbeat do, and so much did this Saturday night, where everything went for them.

Since the party was about to end with a bang of an 'I Only Want to Be With You' was no doubt that those words were meant 100 percent both on stage and the audience. There was no better place to be in London Saturday night. Close to breathtaking!
