MTV: Artist To Watch In 2011: New Politics

(MTV) Originally from Denmark, New Politics, a trio made up of David Boyd, Poul Amaliel and Søren H, formed in the latter part of the 2000s. The group then took their talents to the teeming and vibrant musical epicenter that is Brooklyn, N.Y.
On the surface, a band that features a vocalist, guitarist and drummer might sound like a primal scream waiting to happen, and with Scandinavian rock roots (think The Hives, Refused), New Politics certainly has some garage punk pedigree.
However, on their debut, self-titled album, New Politics gets downright expansive, recalling the crunch of Nirvana, the atmospheric strangeness of The Pixies and a bit of the glam excitement of latter-day My Chemical Romance.
Their debut runs the gamut between lovesick pop songs ("Give Me Hope") and flammable, unhinged rock anthems ("Burn It Down"). How do three guys make such a racket, live? Well you should definitely take the time to find out. New Politics has a reputation of making stages uninhabitable for other bands once they're done.
Check out New Politics' video for "Yeah Yeah Yeah," as well as a live performance of their track "Diginity," both below. New Politics is out now.

Danish Band with great success in Europe.

In December 2010, The Danish band “Annasaid” played at the annual ‘Song of the year 2010’ event in Melkweg, Amsterdam – and earlier this fall the debutalbum JUA was ‘Album of the week’ in Holland, which was soon followed by several good reviews from Dutch media in general.

Besides Denmark, where the band already have had 3 singles on Danish National Radio – DR P3 – also Holland seem to have picked up the explosive and energetic sound of Annasaid. On the debutalbum Jua, released in Denmark, Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg in 2010, these qualities are ever-present along with a newly-found flair and sense for arrangements and layers of melodies. From frantic, angst-ridden punk-inspired songs, over chilled out African rhythms to massive anthems, Jua offers melody, energy and diversity in spades and is an utterly exciting and massively promising document of one the most striking new bands in Denmark.

In january 2011, Annasaid will play at the opening night of the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, Holland – and will subsequently be touring in both Denmark, Holland and Belgium, playing both festivals and venues.

Combined with touring, the band will work on new material – planned for release around April 2011.
