You will be hard pressed to find a more versatile DJ than Copenhagens Kjeld Tolstrup. Since his 1981 debut, this mild mannered and friendly guy has build a reputation as Denmarks no. 1 DJ, playing a variety of styles incl. dirty house music , glamorous electro, lo-fi disco, bizarre Balearic, alternative rock, old school hip hop, and whatever else takes his fancy.

During his 28 years of DJing he has played gigs as diverse as The Royal Danish Wedding of Crownprince Frederik & Princess Mary, The Olympic Games In Athens, the Tour De France in Paris and The Cock in New York City. He´s DJ´ed at parties for Louis Vuitton, Brett Easton Ellis, Depeche Mode, Diesel, Robbie Williams, Mike Tyson, Hugo Boss, Ferrari, Vice Magazine, MTV European Awards, The White Stripes, Red Or Dead and many more.

He´s been a regular at renowned London clubs like Love Ranch, Ministry of Sound, Leisure Lounge, The Gallery and Club For Life. He´s played at the legendary Les Bains Douches in Paris, Element, LIFE, Soho House and Distortion Disco in New York and has been behind the decks at a variety of gigs in Berlin, Hong Kong, Cannes, Ibiza, Reykjavik, Cologne, Vienna, Oslo, Johannesburg, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Prague, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Munich and many more.

In his capacity as DJ/booker/promoter he has played next to and presented the danes to an extensive list of stars like Grace Jones, DJ Hell, Erick Morillo, Zoot Woman, Jacques Lu Cont, Underworld, Kurtis Mantronix, Justice, Felix Da Housecat, Röksopp, The Chemical Brothers, The Presets, Boy George, Todd Terry, Björk, Erol Alkan, Armand van Helden, Run DMC, Roger Sanchez, VV Brown, Claude Challé and others.

His club All DJ´s Are Idiots - was the first Scandinavian club to present a mixture of alternative rock and electronic music to a initially somewhat baffled audience. From 2001 to 2004 the club introduced Copenhageners to top DJ´s and personalities like Tiga, Larry Tee, Queens Of Noize, Arthur Baker, Mark Moore, Jo Jo De Freq and Andrew Fletcher alongside unknown acts like The Scissor Sisters, W.I.T., Bloc Party, Headman, The Glass, WhoMadeWho, Erlend Oye and others. Many playing their first international gig there, some actually playing their first ever.

As founder of the key-club "Lækker" with partnes Philip Agerbech, Jean Von Baden & Anders Wendel, he masterminded a series of semi-private parties. Some held in little known restaurants and out of the way clubs, some in secret locations, others in a private villa/brothel and one in a dingy chinese club with possible triad connections. Although few have actually gone, Club Lækker is notoriously well known for its riotous-hedonistic-anything goes-hands in the air-shirts off atmosphere, where clubkids will rub shoulders with royalty, strippers, models and local and international celebrities to a soundtrack of pumping electrohouse and cool punkdisco (one highlight has been an extremely energetic Mick Jagger on the floor giving it large to the sounds of Avenue D´s - Do I Look Like A Slut ?).

Lækker also gained notoriety in the Danish media for refusing entrance to Princess Mary and Helena Christensen (they were actually led in through the back door, but the following media frenzy didn´t hurt). In 2005 Lækker became the first (and only) Scandinavian club to host a party in New York, bringing along 50 raving mad vikings to party with the natives at Broome Streets "Happy Ending" on a tour that also included a quick stop for a pre-party in Reykjavik 2 days earlier.

Recently Kjeld was busy doing a weekly show on Danish national radio ‘P3’ called Unga Bunga! and compiling the CD- Series “Sound Of Copengagen” with fellow DJ Le Gammeltoft.
